Isabel Allende’s short story, “And of Clay Are We Created” has the theme of choice. The story takes place from the aftermath of the eruption of Nevado del Ruiz, which was a volcano eruption in Colombia. Rolfe Carlé, one of the main characters in the story, is a reporter who is covering the mudpit, while he is covering the mudpit he sees a girl, Azucena, trapped in the mud. Carlé’s reporting job kept him busy from remembering his past, which is his time spent in Europe at the concentration camps. Isabel Allende used Azucena to help Rolfe Carlé remember that he will not be able to face his past/fears until he accepts them. Choice can be seen in this line “But he had come face to face with the moment of truth; he could not continue to escape his past. He was Azucena; he was buried in the clayey mud; his terror was not the distant emotion of an almost forgotten childhood, it was a claw sunk in his throat” (1241). Carle finally made the decision to be face to face with reality, and he knew he could no longer escape his past.
Choice in“The Garden of Forking Paths” by Jorge Luis Borges can be seen throughout the story, but I want to point out choice towards the end of the story. In Borges’ short story, he uses alternate universes, “to read one of Borges’s stories is to enter a new reality, imagined with great concreteness as an extension of our own world yet bearing distinctive features of the universes of fantasy and science fiction (1336). He “portrays the universe as a series of alternative versions of experience” (1337) because the story starts as a regular spy story, but then changes. “The Garden of Forking Paths’ was the chaotic novel; the phrase ‘the various futures (not to all)’ suggested to me the forking in time, not in space,” (1342). Yu T’sun finds out“The Garden of Forking Paths” is actually a book about Fang who has a choice to kill an intruder or not to kill him. This made me think of Yu T’sun who had the gun and had the choice to kill or not to kill Madden.
Literary Devices
Jorge Luis Borges uses magical realism in “The Garden of Forking Paths.” Yu Tsun, the main character in the story, is a German spy during World War I. With Yu Tsun being a German spy during this time period, this shows the realism in the story. Yu Tsun seems as though he is weaving his way through a path. Yu Tsun asked for help to navigate his way to Stephen Albert’s house, and the men tell him to turn left at every crossroad.Yu Tsun thought, “The road descended and forked among the now confused meadows,” (1340). The labyrinth represents magical realism. Borges incorporated information about Yu Tsun’s ancestor, Ts’ui Pen, and his labyrinth into the story. Labyrinth’s usually always guides a person to take left turns, which is what Yu Tsun does in the story. It is almost as though Yu Tsun is bringing a story to life because he is literally walking the labyrinth, which is the magical realism in the story. Future writers should re-read “Death Constant Beyond Love” and look for the magical realism in that story.
“Death Constant Beyond Love” uses symbolism in the story. The “rose” symbolizes love or even romance, “Even its name was a kind of joke, because the only rose in that village was being worn by Senator Onésimo Sánchez himself on the same afternoon when he met Laura Farina,” (1653). One can assume that the Senator was looking for love. He obviously believed in love because he was wearing a rose. If you haven’t read the story, you will see the romance between the Senator and Ms. Farina. Symbolism is great in a story. I think of it like a “word search” because symbolism does not always stand out at first, and in some stories or poems you have to find it. Including symbolism in your writing allows for an object or a thing to have a meaning to it. Symbolism adds meaning to a story. I suggest re-reading “Death Beyond Constant Love” and see if you can find any more symbols in the story.
The story “And of Clay Are We Created” uses imagery. One can see imagery in the first sentence of the story, “They discovered the girl’s head protruding from the mudpit, eyes wide open, calling soundlessly.” The use of imagery in this sentence is great because it makes it so easy for the reader to imagine this scene. I love how Isabel Allende chose to start her story this way. It engages and grabs the attention of the reader. I suggest those who are writers to do this. When you start your story with something interesting, your reader will be more interested in reading the story, and he/she will want to read more. PERFORMANCE
The new acoustic and electric basses in Trilian are sampled at an extremely high level of detail. The combination of the software’s intuitive, automatic selection of legato and release articulations as the user plays – and the extensive ‘Round-Robin’ variations introduced for natural sounding bass lines with repeated notes – create a more dynamic and subtle playing experience. Newly developed multisampled dynamic slides let notes realistically slide from one to another. Each of the new basses feature multi-channel mixing between phase-locked microphone/amplifier and direct outputs of each bass.

SOUND CREATION

Trilian is cross-platform compatible with Apple Macintosh OS X 10.4.9 and higher as a native Universal Binary for Intel-Macs and Macintosh G5, and also with Microsoft Windows 7/Vista and XP SP2 and later. 32-bit Audio Units, VST, and RTAS plug-in formats are supported for compatibility with all major host software. Trilian is currently available with 64-bit native support on Windows, and 64-bit native Mac OSX support is in development.

Riot Games has announced that there will be a global esports tournament for their popular mobile MOBA, League of Legends: Wild Rift, later this year. This will see regional teams across the globe competing to earn a place in a tourney in late 2021.

The DRP tracking nightmare
While deciding whether or not to proceed with a dividend reinvestment plan might be a straight-forward decision for most investors, the reality is that if they do proceed with a DRP, tracking all those reinvested dividends and properly calculating performance can quickly become a nightmare.
That’s because each reinvested dividend counts as a new trade transaction, so on average you’ll end up with 2-4 new trades per year for each DRP you participate in. Plus many taxation offices (including the ATO) require that you record the purchase price of your shares in order to calculate your capital gains tax (CGT) when you sell the shares. One of the issues with DRPs is the paperwork it creates. If you hold a share and reinvest it for 10 years at 2 DRPs a year, you end up with over 20 acquisition events to manage. Add to that issues, bonus issues, share top-up plans… well you get the picture.

How to track a dividend reinvestment plan with Sharesight
The good news is that Sharesight takes the hassle out of tracking dividend reinvestment plans. Our dividend reinvestment feature lets you activate a DRP for a particular holding and automatically track the reinvested dividends. Alternatively, you may manually reinvest a specific dividend, at the correct reinvestment price. Here’s how:
1 – Sign-up for a Free Sharesight account
Once you’ve signed-up, simply add your holdings and watch as Sharesight automatically backfills past dividends (and continues to add new ones as they are announced).
2 – Activate automatic DRP tracking (or manually add your reinvested dividends)
Turboscan Pro
If you have registered a DRP for a holding listed on the ASX or NZX, simply activate the “Auto Dividend Reinvestment” feature. This will automatically record a reinvestment for each dividend payment. This setting can be found under the “Holding Settings” section in the sidebar of the Holding page for each holding.
If you have activated a DRP for a holding not listed on the ASX or NZX, you may manually record a dividend reinvestment when you add or edit a dividend payment.
Either way, when a dividend reinvestment is recorded, a trade for the new shares is recorded in your portfolio, in addition to the dividend record.
3 – Upload your official dividend statements (optional)
One of the best things about Sharesight is that it stores all your portfolio data in one place. You can take this one step further by attaching your official dividend statements to the dividend records within a particular holding.
If you don’t have electronic copies of your dividend statements, you can either scan your paper statements, or use a smartphone app that converts photos of your paper statements to PDFs, which you can then upload to Sharesight.
“Sharesight is particularly helpful because it lets me store the dividend statements with each dividend. If you don’t have electronic copies of your statements, and don’t have a scanner handy, then try the TurboScan smartphone app.

4 – Track your DRP residual balances
If the value of the shares you received as part of the DRP does not add up to the cash dividends you would have received, a residual balance is carried-forward to the next dividend payment. You may track DRP residual balances in Sharesight by choosing from various rounding methods: round up, round down, round to the nearest, round down and track balance.
Dividend reporting at tax time and throughout the year
As indicated in the screenshot in step 2 above, once you have begun tracking your reinvested dividends, they will appear in the “All Trades & Adjustments” section of that holding’s page. In order to see all of your portfolio’s dividends, simply run the Taxable Income Report. It displays all dividends and interest payments received over the selected period.
While you can run this report throughout the year, it is particularly helpful at tax time. If you work with an accountant, you can export the report to Excel, PDF, or Google Sheets and share it with them. Or better yet, share secure portfolio access with them, so they have everything they need in one place.

Yes a Ring Doorbell can be connected to more than one phone! You can connect to multiple phones either by sharing access from a single account to other people, or by having multiple users log into a single account from different phones. And it is more simple than you might think!

This article will explain how this works and how to set it up so that you can access your Ring Doorbell from multiple phones or devices, according to your own personal preferences. (You might also be interested in our related article “Best Inexpensive Alternatives to the Ring Video Doorbell“.)
The Shared User Feature
When access is shared, the person can view videos and respond to rings, but not delete videos.
Set this up by opening up the Ring app on yours or whoever’s phone is the one that has it. Then, once in the app, tap on the Ring Doorbell icon in the top-left corner on the screen. You’ll then click on “shared users” and select “add user”.
You will then be asked to type in the email address of the person you are trying to add. Do that and then click “OK”. Their email address will then appear in the list under “shared users” and it will say “pending invite” below.
The person you are sharing with will then get an email invite, which has a link. Once they click on the link, they’ll be brought to a screen where they will be asked to create a Ring account, and they can type in their email and create a password, clicking “next” after doing so to move on.
Once that is done, they can close out of that, and install the Ring app on their own phone. They’ll open it up once downloaded and select “log in” and enter the credentials that they made for themselves.
After they’ve done all of this, they will be able to have access to the Ring Doorbell that you shared with them.
This access enables the person you shared with to do the following:
Receive and answer alerts when someone presses the doorbell or triggers the motion sensors.
Turn on and off alerts for their devices that have the app and are logged into it.
View videos that have been stored.
Save videos directly to their own phone or device.
Join a three-way call in response to an alert.
Initiate and use Ring Plus functionality.
There are some things the person you shared with will still not be able to do, however. Those things are as follows:
Delete videos that are stored in recent activity.
Delete devices.
Change motion settings.
Change the device name.
Share to any additional users.
You are able to share with as many other people or devices as you want, which is a nice plus. It’s a good feature, especially if you have multiple devices in addition to multiple people living in your home.
This may be a good option if you have older children at home with you so that they can get alerts and some limited access without the ability to make changes or delete videos.
Logging Into a Single Account
When someone logs into a single account, even from multiple phones, they have all access to every function on each phone or device.
This option is actually pretty easy to do. You simply have the other person download the Ring app from their phone or device and log in with your own login credentials.
They will then be able to do everything that you are able to do, including deleting videos, changing names and settings, and sharing to other users.
This option is a bit like sharing your Netflix password with someone. By doing this, the person has access to all the profiles, or devices in this case, and can make changes to them. While the Ring Alarm system requires a pin and has more structure for some things, the Ring Doorbell is not like that.
Giving someone your login info means they can do whatever they feel the need or desire to do with the doorbell on their app.
This method can be a good option for people you trust and want to give more access to. However, remember that if you have multiple Ring devices besides the Ring Doorbell, they will be able to access those from the app as well and potentially make changes.
Just make sure the person you give your login info to is extremely trustworthy and will not make changes or do anything like that without first talking it over with you.
What Devices Can Work With the Ring Doorbell and App?
Connecting to multiple phones is a great option because phones are portable and almost always with someone. There are other devices that a Ring Doorbell can be connected to, though.
Phones
Phones are the main thing mentioned in this article but in a general sense. What phones specifically can connect to the Ring Doorbell?
Well, any phone that has the app in their app store can connect to the Ring Doorbell. This means any Apple I Phone, Google Android Phone, Samsung Galaxy Phone, Microsoft Phone, or another type of smartphone with access to apps can download this. Phones that are older and are not smartphones will not be able to access the app and therefore the Ring Doorbell.
If members of your family or friends that you are sharing with have different types of smartphones, as long as they can access the app, then they will be fine.
So if you are a die-hard Apple user, and your spouse or child likes to use Android products, it won’t make a difference, and you’ll all be able to use it in the same way.
Tablets
The same principle that applies to phones also applies to tablets. If you can get the app on your tablet, then you can access the Ring Doorbell from it.
Any Apple Ipad, Google Tablet, Samsung Galaxy Tablet, or other tablets with an app store will work. This is a nice option for people who like to use their tablets at home and may not have their phones nearby at all times.
Tablets are also nice because videos will typically display larger due to the bigger screen.

Google Smart TVs with Chrome-casts are also able to connect with Ring Doorbells, besides the original version.
Samsung Smart TVs are also compatible with the Ring Doorbell Pro, but not with any other Ring Doorbell. Other Smart TVs with that can download the Ring app will likely be able to connect to and work with the Ring Doorbell.

To get the best predictable results when sending your designs/photos for commercial offset printing you need to select a suitable CMYK profile that best matches the destination printing conditions before converting images to cmyk. Graphic design software such as Adobe's Creative Suite (Photoshop, Indesign and Illustrator) come with ICC profile presets for sheetfed and web offset presses and various coated and uncoated paper types. There are profiles for North America, Europe and Japan who each have different printing standards.
In an ideal world, there would be an international standard that all printers globally would follow for each printing method, with standard inks, paper and press setups, and there would be just one set of ICC profiles for each of these conditions. This would make life easier for designers, who often don't know who is going to be printing their designs. It would be a safe bet that something printed in the UK would be a close match to the same design printed in the US, for example. Lets hope that this will all happen in the future!
You can verify whether the color profile of the document is suitable for a specific printer and avoid unwanted results. Soft proof documents to preview final results on-screen. Printing in the UK and Europe
The international standard ISO 12647/2-2004 is being used by more and more printers in the UK and Europe these days. The German printing research organisation (FOGRA) developed this standard by testing a large number of presses using a range of paper types and produced a set of datasets. These were then used to create the ICC profiles 'ISO coated.icc' and 'ISO web coated.icc' for sheetfed litho on coated papers, and web offset on lightweight coated, respectfully (FOGRA27).
These cmyk profiles have now been replaced with a new Version-2 update based on a new FOGRA39 dataset: as not all printers were able to reproduce the same results. Version 2 solves this problem and makes it easier for printers to achieve this standard.

Print setup:
Offset commercial and specialty printing according to ISO 12647-2:2004 / Amd 1.
Paper types 1 or 2 (gloss or matte coated 115 g/m2).
Positive plates.

CMYK Profiles:
'ISO coated v2 (ECI)' for sheetfed offset on coated papers (Coated FOGRA39) with TAC (Total Area Coverage) of 330%.
'ISO coated v2 300% (ECI)' with a reduced TAC of 300% for web offset printing on whiter web offset papers.
These two profiles are available to download from the ECI website.
'ISO coated v2 300% (ECI)' can be used when the intended printing condition is not yet known. A lot a printers prefer to keep the TAC to below 300% even for sheetfed offset on coated papers, to avoid printing problems caused by too high ink coverage. Better to have too little than have too much ink! However, if this profile is used, and the press has a higher TAC, then photographs will print lighter in the shadow areas.
Printing in the US
For sheetfed litho printing in North America the GRACoL (General Requirements for Applications in Commercial Offset Lithography) setup is becoming popular for printing on coated paper.
CMYK Profile:
'Coated GRACoL 2006' - for grade 1 paper on a sheetfed press with a TAC of 340%.
For web offset production, then the SWOP (Specifications for Web Offset Publications) setup is used for printing on lightweight papers.
CMYK Profiles:
'Web Coated SWOP 2006 Grade 3 Paper' - TAC 310%.
'Web Coated SWOP 2006 Grade 5 Paper' - TAC 300%.
Choose one of these three ICC profiles if you know the type of press and paper type. If not, then it is safer to go with 'Web Coated SWOP 2006 Grade 5 Paper' as it has a TAC of 300%. Q = aggressive stance (easy to access, logic sequence when looking at the buttons)

ALT + Q = economic view (very useful to quickly know how many villagers you have on each resource for a better economic balancing and constant unit production)
ALT + W = military view (useful to quickly glance at minimap and see possible idle military units)
ALT + E = normal view
ALT + C = friend or foe colors
ALT + Z = flare (remember the speed with which Zorro made his mark on enemies)
Shift + S = unpack trebuchets (easy to access)
Tab = idle villager (easy to access) (mouse scroll up is secondary button for this for the mass idle villager delete trick)
mouse scroll down = idle military units (easy to access)
F = stop (when a unit is selected)
= ungarrison (easy to access)
G = garrison (easy to access)
F5 = delete (easy to press, but won’t be pressed by mistake).
– = gate (it’s straight like a gate, near towers, lack of better options)
Middle mouse button = go to last notification (immediate access)
Z = set gather point (useful when hunting deer with villagers in TC so that it doesn’t shoot the deer)
T = attack ground (the easiest to press that was still available, remember T =Target, use this to target manually)
U = Pack (for trebuchets)

Let’s start with addressing the elephant in the room, is this Need for Speed? Yes, however, it is Need for Speed with improvements and more player freedom. Seeing Rockstar create another open-world game is no surprise, but competing head to head with Need For Speed and other racing games is a bit odd.

Graphics and Scale
This game has a massive open world for you to race through, larger than the past three titles in the series combined. The game also includes a day-night cycle with weather effects and of course local traffic. For a game that was released in 2008, it looks pretty darn good, but not as amazing as some other games on the PS3 and Xbox 360.
However, I think this is mainly because they used the power of this generation for more than just graphics. When roads are wet from rain, it affects how slippery it is and instead of focusing on immense detail, the game leans more to having nice lighting. Looks really nice during any time of the day-night cycle.
Gameplay & User Interface
The gameplay is smooth and controls well. Bumping into other cars or walls feels how you’d expect it too and each car feels unique. The user interface is similar to Need for Speed in a lot of ways but does a better job of getting the player into actual racing events faster, without cutscenes, long loading screens, or gimmicks getting in the way. The game also allows you to use ‘Rep Points’ to upgrade your cars and customize them in just about any way you can imagine. The game also offers a lot of freedom, allowing you to race any other racer at any time, however, boss races only appear once you’ve worked your way up by beating other racers first.

Throughout the day-night cycle the density of traffic changes, with medium amounts of traffic from morning to early afternoon, with heavy traffic in the evening, and little traffic at night. Roads become slippery when wet, and of this game features police. Sadly, the game does not feature split-screen multiplayer, but it does feature online multiplayer, but I’d be surprised if the servers are even online let alone no empty. This game hardly has a story, you are a nameless protagonist given vague and genric reasons as to why to race and become the best in the city while making a lot of money while doing it.
The only real flaw this game has is the AI racers essentially cheat in order to scale the game’s difficulty. They magically get speed boosts despite them taking a corner poorly, when you use nitrous they also somehow use nitrous despite not actually using it. A common and cheap way to make a racing game challenging. My only other complaint would be that it only takes about 10 hours to complete. That’s not particularly short but I’d expect more of a company like Rockstar, and most racing games.
This is a great game that really gives Need for Speed and other racing games a run for their money. Definitely a game I’d recommend to anyone wanting a good street racing game. Despite the age of Midnight Club Los Angeles, it is still a great game that holds up well. The Fast & Fun, Los Angeles Drift (Sorry I couldn’t resist)

Arcade racing games fall in and out of popularity but at the height of some of their biggest competitive years, Rockstar Game’s Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition Remix was vying for the throne of top-dog. It’s competition—the much-loved primary adversary in Need for Speed: Most Wanted. However, with Midnight Club 3’s amazing handling control of the cars, encouraged racing wheel functionality, high-octane speeds through night city environments comparable to the Burnout series, and a plethora of vehicles and music to choose from—this game was chock-full of hours of enjoyment and quality racing.
Highlight of the Series
Midnight Club 3 takes its place as a midpoint of the series and also, looking back, the most beloved. With a stunning mix of open-world clearly inspired by its publisher’s even more popular series of Grand Theft Auto—Midnight Club 3 blends high-octane races including all manner of souped-up cars, SUVs, and motorcycles; nearly infinite customization of all its vehicles; while also carrying you through four main playable fully-realized open world areas of Atlanta, Detroit, San Diego and, specific to the Remix version, Tokyo. All the places have their own feel and with an amazing soundtrack including over 120 songs—there is no shortage of content in this game.
Arcade vs. Realism
Midnight Club 3 was initially released earlier in the same year of Need for Speed: Most Wanted—which debuted on both the PS2 and Xbox and their next console generation with the Xbox 360 and PS3. That being said, Need for Speed was critical in a change of the genre that strayed from fully arcade racers, and instead blended the likes of realism and racing to separate itself. Admittedly, that series would toe the line of realism and arcade, but Midnight Club 3 was a predecessor, and more inspired by games of the time like the very popular Burnout series. That being said, as opposed to specified driving mechanics like something you might encounter in the Forza or Gran Turismo series, you find in this game the ability to crash into oncoming vehicles(knocking them out of the way), or even slowing down time to quickly maneuver a difficult situation (a special move further popularized by Franklin in GTA V). And, that being mentioned, the inspiration of this game that carried over to the GTA series in IV and V is exciting to see.
The Complete Package
It’s always exciting to play a game that shows all the best the series has to offer—and Midnight Club 3 DUB Edition Remix is clearly the high-point of this one. With its follow-up in Midnight Club: Los Angeles, nothing was diminished but it just didn’t seem to harness the lightning in the bottle that its predecessor did. This game, much like Burnout 3: Takedown, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, or Forza Horizon 4 is a high-point of a great series by taking all the components that make it popular and turning them up to 11.
Where music choice, environment, car/motorcycle design, track design, customization, and multiplayer all mesh into one complete game—you have an entry that simply cannot be missed.
